Who are the Top 5 Highest run scorers and Wicket Takers in the last ICC Champions Trophy?

With Champions Trophy 2025 just around the corner, the excitement among fans seems to be at an entirely top level. Before we witness the magic of cricket in this edition, let’s sit back and look at the players who shined in the last edition and rejoice in the memories.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on the 19th of February and stretch until the 9th of march 2025. A hybrid model is to be implemented with matches to take place in Pakistan and Dubai. While Pakistan is the defending champion and host of the tournament, we hope to see lots of talent making new records this season. But before that,  let’s take a brief look at what happened the last time! 

Virat Kohli was the 5th highest run scorer in the tournament with 258 runs in 5 innings and the highest of 96. Joe Root was the fourth-highest scorer with 258 runs a highest score of 133 and an average of 86 runs. Tamim Iqbal from Bangladesh scored 293 runs with the highest run of 128 and an average of 73.25. Rohit Sharma stood as the second most run-scoring batsman of the tournament with total runs of 304 in 5 innings with the highest of 123 runs and an average of 76 runs. Shikar Dhawan from the Indian cricket team was the leading scorer of the tournament with 338 runs in 5 innings with an average of 67.60 and the highest run of 125.

Adil Rashid was the fifth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, he took 7 wickets in 3 matches. LE Plunkett from England took 8 wickets in 4 four innings. Junaid Khan comes at number No.3 with 8 wickets in four matches. Jr. Hazelwood from Australia was the 2nd most wicket-taker in the tournament with 9 wickets in 3 innings and Hasan Ali from Pakistan stood on top of the table with 13 wickets in 9 matches.

With the tournament taking place after a big gap of seven years, a lot has changed. Some players have retired, and many new talents have emerged so things might be different in this edition.
