Peshawar Zalmi’s ex-coach Darren Sammy will take charge as the new coach of the West Indies Test Team. He currently coaches their ODI and T20 teams.

The decision came after monitoring West Indies team’s performance in ODI and T20 under the coaching of Darren Sammy which seems to have been a lot improved.

Under Sammy’s leadership, their T20 side travelled up from ninth to the fifth position. Also, they have defeated Bangladesh in ODI series with 3-0 – ending an 11 month losing streak. This shows that the team world feared in the past is trying to make a comeback among the top-tier of cricketing world – all thanks to the great expertise and leadership of Sammy.

Now, that we would be leading the test side too – there are hopes to see the West Indies Cricket Team rise in all the formats once again. Their disqualification from Champions Trophy was a major setback for the cricket board of West Indies – alarming management as well as the players that it is high time they turn up their game or no one would remember West Indies in the world of cricket anytime soon.

Therefore, the decision to appoint Sammy as their test cricket coach seems perfectly times. He has proved himself as a great leader while giving his services to Peshawar Zalmi as well. And the recent improvements in the T20 and ODI squads of the West Indies Cricket team cannot go unseen.

The Australian test team has a huge potential. Fighting that potential, West Indies have defeated Australia at gabba, a rare achievement that only India had achieved before West Indies. And with the new test coach, there are hopes the team would strengthen even more – bring more titles and trophies home.
